Taking a Step Forward with FingerTec

Walk About Kilang Kasut Sdn. Bhd. is a full-scale-manufacturing organization operating with a specialized workforce in shoe making. Based in the historical state of Malacca in Malaysia, Walk About had its humble beginnings rooted in 1978 with a workforce of only ten people sewing the shoes manually in a rented shop house before growing into the organization it is today. Walk About provides a whole variety of footwear products catered for many different needs, including casual, office, uniform and work safety. They are also known for exporting their products to countries, such as Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Brunei, Indonesia and Australia while also obtaining a license to manufacture for a popular USA brand owner in 1988.
 
Within the organization’s factory, buddy punching has been seen as an occurrence and Walk About was looking to prevent such cases from happening again. The solution to this issue is to abolish the manual punch card system that they have been using and deploy an electronic time attendance system for efficiency in recording time attendance. To that, they turned to Flexi Team Computer, who introduced them to FingerTec’s line of time attendance and access control products and it was through that introduction where Flexi Team suggested the deployment of FingerTec i-Kiosk 100 in their factory. Complete with comprehensive time attendance and access control features and a colorful screen, the 50-member staff felt good about utilizing fingerprint technology to clock in their attendance and overtime and found the terminal to be user-friendly.

When asked as to why Flexi Team Computer chose to sell FingerTec products, their Sales Executive, Mr. Liu Yen Chin, remarked that FingerTec products are easy to use and suitable for any kind of industry that requires electronic devices to monitor time attendance and access control. Flexi Team is a company that started out in Johor, before opening business premises in Kuala Lumpur and Malacca with the aim of becoming a one-stop computer centre in the southern region of Peninsular Malaysia.
