TimeTec Smart Parking 12/12: Integrated Parking Guidance System
Most of the modern city dwellers are experiencing the time-waste searching for parking space. According to Boston Consulting Group (BCG) research, people in Kuala Lumpur spend 25 minutes every day searching for a parking spot. It usually happens at bustling malls. It is even more frustrating when a patron circles the entire parking site and finally finds a “prey” to see it being snatched away by a quicker “predator”. To solve the problem, TimeTec encourages car park owners to consider adopting a parking guidance system.
“TimeTec offers two types of Parking Guidance System, the first is Video Parking Guidance System, which deploys License Plate Recognition (LPR) technology; the second is Ultrasonic Parking Guidance System, which uses Ultrasonic wave technology. Both are meant to guide users to park their cars effortlessly; hence effectively reduce the search time for parking, increase the parking utilization rate and mitigate congestion,” explained Teh Hon Seng, CEO of TimeTec Group.
“Since the Video Parking Guidance System is using LPR, it’s natural to be using LPR as the main parking entry and exit method if a carpark owner chooses this guidance system. On the other hand, for Ultrasonic Parking Guidance System, the carpark owner can choose various parking entry and exit methods including the LPR.”
Both Guidance Systems can work standalone, and they can also fully integrate with the TimeTec Smart Parking Management System to provide better feature extension.

Teh Hon Seng said, “The Video Parking Guidance System has an extra advantage to solve the shared-carpark environment issue to discern the parking income for different business entities. For example, when a shopping mall is sharing the same parking site with a hotel, users can come in from the hotel’s parking entrance but park at the shopping mall’s parking lots and leave via the shopping mall’s exit, and vice versa. As a result, they have difficulty splitting the parking income. But because the Video Parking Guidance System embedded License Plate Recognition (LPR) technology, it can identify where a vehicle parks regardless of its entry and exit points. Moreover, with the ownership of parking bays clearly defined in the TimeTec Smart Parking Management System, the parking income is tabulated without any mistake.”
“Furthermore, shopping malls can also integrate their mall apps to the Parking Guidance System to extend the Parking Bay Availability Check and Find My Car features to the user’s smartphones.”
