Schindler Group Escalates Security with FingerTec H2i/R2c
Schindler was founded in 1874 in Lucerne, Switzerland, and is one of the world’s leading providers of elevators, escalators, and moving walks, as well as maintenance and modernization services. The Group has over 1000 branch offices in more than 100 countries, as well as production sites and research and development facilities in the US, Brazil, Europe, China, and India.

Schindler manufactures, installs, services and modernizes elevators, escalators and moving walks for almost every type of building requirement worldwide.

Recently, Schindler deemed it necessary to start raising its security standards at its branch located in Nairobi, Kenya. The company was looking for a solution that would help regulate and monitor entries in order to prevent unauthorized personnel from accessing into its premises. After consulting with our Kenyan reseller, Smoothtel & Data Solutions Ltd, Schindler decides to settle down on FingerTec H2i and R2c series as the solutions to their predicament.

H2i is FingerTec’s latest door access and time attendance device. With a stylish design and a sleek layout, H2i is a master terminal able to hold up to 1,500 fingerprint templates as well as 10,000 card templates. The unique screen-less design uses a combination of voice commands and LED lights to communicate to its users. All in all, H2i proves that size, in fact, does not matter when it comes down to functions. On the other hand, R2c is a slave terminal designed to serve FingerTec master terminal such as H2i for a more cost-effective IN/OUT access control system. Similar in design with the H2i, the sleek-looking, compact and space-reserving R2c establishes a connection via the standard RS485 communication port to the master terminal.

Presently, Schindler Group (KE) is utilizing 12 biometric systems, namely H2i and R2c series. As such, the company is very pleased with the services offered by FingerTec’s products.

Faith Mwangi, Systems administrator of Schindler Group (KE) expresses that “Before the installations, unauthorized access was a big problem for us. These systems have however reduced that, we can now record and monitor data of every employee”.
