Sadara Managing Staff Attendance With Q2i

Established in October 2011, Sadara Chemical Company is a joint venture developed by the Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Saudi Aramco) and The Dow Chemical Company (Dow). The name Sadara, an Arabic word meaning “in the lead” or “out in front”, signifies the progressive leadership and superior performance that Sadara as a company stands for.

As of now, Sadara is constructing in Jubail Industrial City, Saudi Arabia, the world’s largest integrated chemical complex ever built in a single phase, with 26 state-of-the-art manufacturing plants that will produce more than 3 million tons of products every year. Looking at it, the task of managing a construction site and collecting time attendance is particularly challenging especially for a larger site as it poses a lot of unique challenges such as having thousands of on-site employees at a single spot. As a result, the company wanted a solution that could handle this large aspect of the construction site sin ce their previous system, a traditional punch card machine proved to be rather ineffective for this situation. Due to the site being situated mostly in an outdoor environment, our Saudi Arabia reseller, Ali Abdullah Alsubaiei Est, recommended that Sadara picked up FingerTec Q2i as their go-to solution.

FingerTec Q2i is a premium security device that utilizes the advanced biometric fingerprint technology as its verification method. As cards and tags are not appropriate for the kind of workplace Sadara operates in since it can easily be misplaced; Q2i on the other hand, provides construction workers with the convenience to clock in their attendance using only their fingerprints. Therefore, eliminating the costs of producing/replacing such cards and any instances of buddy punching as well as solving the setbacks of the punch card machine. What’s more, Q2i has a supersized capacity storage of up to 10,000 fingerprint templates and 200,000 transaction logs thus making it the perfect solution to manage the scale of workers set forth by Sadara.

Initially, Sadara was using a single unit of FingerTec Q2i but when positive feedback started flowing in after the installation; the company decided that this is the best solution for the job at hand and requested for more units. Currently, Sadara is using 40 units of Q2i, which are all connected under a single server database using FingerTec Ingress software, thereby also allowing Sadara to better manage its employees at the construction site for increased productivity.
