Running Ingress and TimeTec Simultaneously for Different Purposes

TimeTec is a web-based attendance solution embedded with powerful attendance features, rules and calculations. It is designed to provide convenience in managing attendance for companies with multiple outlets or branches. Through TimeTec, administrators and employees can login anytime, anywhere to access and view individual attendance records, or to manage the data. TimeTec does not impose any restrictions for any OS or platform as it is a web-based solution, and it also offers mobile apps for Android and iOS TimeTec Mobile to report and check the attendance. Nevertheless, TimeTec does not come with any access control features for the mean time.

Ingress software on the other hand is a Windows-based solution that works as an access control and attendance system. This is a server-client design solution, where you need to install the Ingress server pack into a dedicated server and the Ingress client pack into the personal computers. Administrators can only login to run the software by using an Ingress client in a local area network. For companies who want to allow login via Internet connection, the IT personnel must ensure the Ingress server is live on the Internet. Ingress is loaded with various powerful access control features to secure your workplace, therefore it is not advisable to provide too many login accounts. Due to security concerns, regular employees are not permitted to login to view or to check their individual attendances; they have to rely on managers or the human resource department to provide them with the information.

Each solution has its own merits and disadvantages, and each company might want to utilize each software for a different purpose. FingerTec is pleased to announce that using both systems at the same time is possible, where TimeTec handles the attendance and Ingress handles the access control.

Follow the steps below to configure your system

Under individual devices

Set TimeTec server IP (50.18.154.243) under the Webster IP address section. Check your hardware user guide to know where you shall insert this IP address.
Configure the device’s IP address, subnet mask and gateway
Restart the device

Under Ingress software

Install Ingress server and client into the server and computer accordingly.
Login to Ingress > Click main menu icon (Ingress logo at left upper corner) > Quick setup wizard > Follow on screen instruction
Go into System Settings > System Parameter Settings > Attendance tab > disable the option “Remove transaction logs after download”
Configure additional access control settings to secure your workplace and limit employees’ access
Ignore Attendance module
Start to use Ingress

Under TimeTec account

Login as System Administrator
Go to Support > Wizard > Setup Wizard
Follow the onscreen instructions to setup
At Employee Management, you can import employees’ profiles via XLS file. Refer to the sample file format in TimeTec, and prepare a copy by exporting from Ingress software.
Configure additional attendance rules under Clocking Schedules and Group Duty Roster
Start using TimeTec
You can continue to create logins for secondary administrators (under Configuration > Admin) or individual logins (under individual profile), and login via mobile apps too.

Once completed, the Ingress software will secure your workplace from unauthorised access. You can monitor all employees’ in-out movements and all doors’ statuses. You can prepare access control related reports from Ingress too. However, you will not be able to process attendance under Ingress.

Every in-out records of the employees uploads immediately to TimeTec via Internet. TimeTec processes attendance and reports for all employees. Administrators can login to manage the data, prepare reports, or to export attendance for payroll process. Employees can login to view personal attendance records to evaluate their performances.
