OFIS Tool is Now Embedded in Ingress for PC Clock-In

FingerTec’s OFIS or Online Fingerprint Identification System is a biometric scanner device designed for online verification and enrollment. The device can be connected to any Windows-installed computer accompanied with an installation of OFIS Client that will allow the OFIS Scanner to identify and verify fingerprints. The fingerprint templates can then be stored in the computer or server, which can be used with Windows-based solutions for login and identification purposes.

New plans and designs are currently in the work to embed the OFIS Scanner in the Ingress software for a time attendance system. The scanner will now act as a clock-in device that is connected to the computer, which means that users can directly clock-in at the computer instead of any terminal device. This OFIS TA feature allows clocking activities to be done with the OFIS Scanner. All that is needed is to install the OFIS Scanner to your computer that has the Ingress software installed and add the device into Ingress.

This feature can be utilized by using two approaches. The first approach is to login to the Ingress software installed in a computer and trigger the OFIS TA feature under the Monitoring tab. The second approach is to run the OFIS TA standalone application that is bundled with the device. For the second approach the Ingress server must still be connected for data collection and verification, even though there is no need to log in to Ingress.

FingerTec’s OFIS is the device that provides the extra security that companies may require as the verification for time attendance is done directly at the dedicated computer, making it easy for administrators to constantly monitor who makes the transactions. OFIS is capable of minutiae matching technology and ensures that fingerprint information cannot be stolen and duplicated.

The plug and play form of connection that comes with OFIS makes it ideal for companies that do not wish to invest on device installations at their premise. All that is needed to use OFIS TA is to make sure that the OFIS Scanner has already been added to Ingress, which can be done under the Device tab. Another step required to use OFIS is to enroll users’ fingerprints, which can be performed in the User tab. Stay tuned as we bring you more update on this and other developments.
