FingerTec Continues Gaining Recognition
in the Middle East
By Mrs. Norana Johar, Chief Operating Officer, FingerTec Worldwide.

FingerTec’s presence in the Intersec is key to the brand’s growth in the Middle East and North African markets. This annual show attracts established security brands from around the world to showcase their latest products and offerings to the region’s prospective clients in this 3-day, 9-hour daily exhibition held at Dubai Trade Center, UAE. This was the 8th year of FingerTec’s participation in the show and the response had never been better from our existing and prospective clients.

This year, FingerTec focused on showcasing the latest FaceID4, FaceID3, k-Kadex and TA range in the show. Many visitors were pleasantly surprised by the performance of Face ID during enrollments and verifications. Not only were they hassle-free, the speed was also exceptional, showcasing the best combination of features a hardware could possess. TA300’s simplicity and portability appealed to many as well for the model is seen as suitable for sectors that require hardware transferability, like construction. However, there were also some concerns brought up by prospects about the face capacity of Face ID models and their uni-method of biometrics verification employed. The small screen of Face ID was also viewed as uninviting by some cultures that prefer robust hardware size. “Relative to the size of our fingers, the small screen could be unfriendly,” commented a visitor from Iraq.

Culture definitely plays an important role in marketing this brand in the Middle East. Face recognition products are definitely technology forward but gender factor is still something that is being pondered upon because according to some visitors, women with a burqa (head scarf that covers the whole face) must be given an alternative to other biometrics method in a machine i.e. fingerprint. The culture of wearing henna on the fingers amongst the females was another concern that could be seen as a teething problem to fingerprint system implementation over in some countries. While we have the solution for the optional biometrics verification method in our FaceID2 and the fact that henna fingers do not create problems to our system, gathering these marginal feedbacks was invaluable to the brand’s future growth in the region. Nonetheless, all in all, the majority of visitors were convinced with the biometrics system’s benefits and FingerTec’s software, TCMS V2 apparently has gained credibility as one of the best time management software in the industry around the Middle East.

Customers were very enthusiastic at the booth
