	FingerTec Competition Winner Shares His Thoughts on Security Technology

The IFSEC Southeast Asia is one of the biggest annual security events to take place and the one in 2015 was no different than the previous years’. FingerTec was a part of the event, showcasing products for access control and was met with a great response from visitors to the event during the 3-day period.

To make things even more exciting and to engage people’s interest, FingerTec conducted a survey/competition to find out how access control is handled by different companies, what are the issues that occur with the systems, and what people look for in creating their own system. Chosen randomly as the winner of FingerTec Knock, Knock Survey was Eric Hew, Security Automation Manager of K2 Corporation Sdn Bhd.

As the winner, Mr Hew received FingerTec’s Face ID 3 for access control and time attendance worth RM 2,400. The device is equipped with biometrics technology capable of storing 400 face templates and is bundled with Ingress software.

Mr Hew visits IFSEC SEA every year at the invitation of exhibitors and is always in search of the latest in security technology. As part of the KK Group of Companies, K2 Corporation is a provider of security solutions and surveillance systems. The company provides security equipments mainly to other KK-owned buildings as well as companies in various industries including retail, education, manufacturing, and transportation.

According to Mr Hew, providing the right solution to prevent crime and security issues is considered the main challenge of creating a security system. As each company requires detailed attention, security providers must be able to find the most suitable system that will fit the company with considerations to cost, devices to use, staff training, and maintenance.

To cope with the demands of companies these days, many systems have moved to cloud technology as a means of bringing the best quality product with less hassle. Mr Hew states that cloud technology is the next step as it helps to reduce cost and is capable of providing good services. Cloud technology is scalable and can be tailored to suit the exact needs of any company. Moving standard network connections to cloud storage can protect privacy and enforce the security of the data collected, preventing any form of compromise.

Making systems accessible from anywhere at anytime, makes cloud the next step in providing security solutions. FingerTec is gradually moving to embrace cloud with solutions such as FingerTec Cloud Center, TimeTec, and EpiCamera, with more solutions coming in the near future
