FingerTec Firmware Update: Face ID 2 VX 6 & H2i

Face ID 2 VX 6
1. Quicker and more accurate face detection and verification
The new face algorithm VX 6.0 enhances the capturing speed and quality of the twin cameras, resulting in users getting their identities verified quicker and more accurately.

2. Removes “User Grouping”
The new algorithm no longer supports “User Grouping”. It locates all the users’ enrolled faces into the same group, meaning that users just have to verify their faces the usual way.

3. Equipped with Time Zone settings
Previously, Face ID 2 was the only access control model without time zone settings. Now with the new firmware update, however, R&D has added this feature into the Face ID 2 allowing you to set time zones and group time zones into the Face ID 2 to improve the accessibility of all users.

It is important to note, however, that the new firmware reduces the total face templates from 700 to 400 users. Due to the different algorithm and structure of the face templates, re-enrollment is compulsory after the firmware upgrade. If you’re using the Face ID 2, you will need to do these steps before upgrading the Face ID 2:

Download all transaction logs from the Face ID 2 > update the new firmware > reset the Face ID 2 > re-enroll users’ faces.

Now click here to download the Face ID 2 VX 6 firmware, or visit http://tips.fingertec.com > Download > Firmware > Standard firmware > Face ID 2 VX 6.

By the way, if you opt not to upgrade your firmware, users can still remain with the current Face ID 2 firmware with the VX 5 face algorithm. We do continue to maintain the firmware at http://tips.fingertec.com > Download > Firmware > Standard firmware > Face ID 2 VX 5, or you can click here to download it. This previous firmware of Face ID 2 maintains the following features:
1. 700 face templates
2. Verification with “user grouping”
3. No Time Zone settings

H2i
The new firmware for the H2i fixes the fingerprint transfer error via the USB flash disk.

The current FingerTec models with black and white display supports fingerprint algorithm VX 9.0 only. You can transfer fingerprints via a USB flash disk among these black and white display models, and not to other color screen terminals which run on the algorithm VX 10.0. To upload VX 9.0 fingerprints to color screen models, configure the color screen models to fingerprint algorithm VX9.0 before you transfer.

H2i supports both fingerprint algorithms VX 9.0 and 10.0, but it is only able to transfer fingerprints VX 9.0 during USB mode. Upgrade the terminal to the new firmware to enable the H2i to transfer both VX 9.0 and 10.0 versioned fingerprints via USB flash disk. By default, the H2i is preset to support fingerprint algorithm VX 10.0, and it can transfer the fingerprints from the VX 10.0 algorithm which is compatible with FingerTec’s color screen models into a USB flash disk. In the event that the administrator sets the H2i to support fingerprint algorithm VX 9.0, the fingerprint output in the USB flash disk can only be transferred to black-white screen terminals. So to avoid any complications, make sure you set the algorithm version in the H2i correctly before transferring fingerprints via the USB flash disk.

Reminder: You can only set the fingerprint algorithm in any FingerTec models before starting to enroll fingerprints. Changes after fingerprint enrollment will not have any effect on the stored fingerprints.
