Q3: When I start up the R2 reader, the LCD screen displays "FP Reader Error" and the timer counts down from 60 to 0. When it reaches zero the R2 restarts itself.
A: The R2 is a time attendance and access control device series that has its own exit reader, FingerTec R2i, for a complete in/out solution. When the R2 is loaded with the latest R2’s firmware, it will constantly check the status of the R2i to check if it is working as it should be. When the R2 detects that the R2i exit reader has stopped responding, which may be due to a hardware failure, the R2 will activate a buzzer for 60 seconds to alert an administrator. The administrator will then restart the system by resetting the power supply, or just he could just leave the R2 to automatically restart by itself. However, if the R2 is not being used with the R2i exit reader, the R2 will trigger the buzzer off and restart itself often. To prevent this from occurring, you’ll have to change a setting in the Advance Option menu by following the steps below:
Press Menu > Select Option > Select System Option > Select Advance Option > Select With R2i/Two sensor > Change setting to “N” > Save Settings > Restart the terminal |
