COOKIES POLICY
Last updated: May 15, 2018

This website uses both internal and third party cookies, for purposes which are stated below in this Cookie Policy. You are agreeing to the use of cookies if you close the cookie warning banner, scroll on the page or otherwise continue to use the site.

What are cookies?
Generally, websites need to collect certain basic information about its visitors to be able to work effectively and reliably. To achieve this, these websites can use "cookies", which are small text files saved by the browser on each visitor’s device (computer, phone, tablet and etc.). These cookies are often uniquely assigned to each visitor and upon your next visit, the files are then sent back to the originating website or to another website which recognizes that cookie.

Cookies can be used for different purposes, including to recognize visitors, record visitor’s preferences (such as login, language, font size and other display preferences), to improve site navigation and etc. A large part of the data collected may be anonymous, though some cookies are also used to detect browsing patterns and approximate geographical location.

Types of cookies
There are several ways you can categorize cookies. The most basic, is by their storage length:
• Session (temporary) cookies - Deleted when the browser is closed. Used to remember past actions or selections of the user as they navigate the site during a single browser session.
• Persistent (tracking) cookies - Is not deleted when the browser is closed but comes with expiration time. Allows websites, applications or services to “remember” visitors and their preferences (e.g. for authentication/login, language preference and etc).

Besides that, you can also look at their originating domain:
• First-party (internal) cookies - Created by the visited page's domain e.g. fingertec.com
• Third-party cookies - Created by a different domain compared to the visited page

How do we use cookies?
When you visit our website, you may be introduced to both internal and third-party cookies created for a number of purposes. Cookies set by FingerTec are mainly strictly necessary or functional cookies. We also use some third party services (e.g. LiveChat, Pardot, Google Analytics, Matomo, Youtube) and social media plug-ins (e.g. Facebook "Like", Twitter "Follow") so there may be cookies placed by these providers.

Some of these services and the related cookie may be used to track your behaviour on other websites and we have no control over this.

We use cookies for purposes that fall in the following categories (classified based on ICC guide):

• Strictly necessary cookies
As mentioned, FingerTec sets strictly necessary cookies, which are essential to enable you to move around the website and use its features, such as accessing secure areas of the website. For example, we have cookies that allow registered resellers to authenticate themselves in order to access authorized content.

• Performance cookies
We also use performance cookies to collect information about how visitors use our website, for instance which pages visitors go to most often, and if they get error messages from web pages. These cookies don’t collect information that identifies a visitor. All information these cookies collect is aggregated and therefore anonymous. It is only used to improve how a website works. For example, these include the Google Analytics, Matomo (formerly known as Piwik) and Pardot cookies.

• Functionality cookies
These cookies allow our websites, applications and services to remember choices you make (such as your user name and language) and provide enhanced, more personal features. These cookies can also be used to remember changes you have made to text size, fonts and other parts of web pages that you can customise. They may also be used to provide services you have asked for. The information these cookies collect may be anonymised and they usually cannot track your browsing activity on other websites unless you are logged-in to the respective social media accounts. Examples include FingerTec's UI customization cookies and cookies created by the LiveChat function and Facebook "Like" & Twitter "Follow" buttons.

• Targeting or Advertising cookies
These cookies are used to deliver adverts more relevant to you and your interests. They are also used to limit the number of times you see an advertisement as well as help measure the effectiveness of the advertising campaign. They are usually placed by advertising networks with the website operators’ permission. They remember that you have visited a website and this information is shared with other organisations such as advertisers. Quite often targeting or advertising cookies will be linked to site functionality provided by the other organisation.

FingerTec does not use third-party advertising on our site, so we do not use these Targeting cookies for advertising. However, third parties may use these on our website, for example, Doubleclick cookies saved when you view a web page with Youtube hosted content.
