To all you software developers out there, we bring some good news indeed! We have recently introduced Webster for FingerTec, a web based platform that can bridge quite a few gaps when it comes to managing the raw data from FingerTec’s terminals.

So what exactly is Webster? Webster is an online web based platform, similar to an SDK, that is used to consolidate and centralize the database for time and attendance. With the Webster platform, you can access raw time attendance data anywhere and everywhere using internet browser. Webster also acts as a platform between a reader and the TCMS V2 or the TimeTec, and collects and stores the attendance data from the FingerTec readers in a real-time manner.

To understand Webster’s functioning better, take a look at the diagram below:

The core features and advantages of a Webster-based system is highlighted in the table below.
Conventional way Webster Approach
All Data (Transaction, User, Templates) is stored at the individual reader. All Data will be centralized and stored in the Webster server.
All data (Transaction, User, Templates) will need to be downloaded via TCMSv2. All Data is uploaded to Webster in real-time.
All Data is downloaded into a single TCMSv2 software, making it hard for sharing between applications. TCMSv2 or any third party software will be able to login to Webster server to download data for processing.
Must install TCMSv2 or BioBridge to control and manage Reader. After the installation of Webster, all the management done via Web-based. No extra installation is needed on a client PC.

Webster will soon be released to all our clients and end users for purchasing as soon as our trial phase is over. In the mean time, if you think that the Webster platform is just the thing for you, and you wish to try it out, just head over to https://webster.fingertec.com where our server is being hosted via a cloud computing technology for the initial test run (Username & Password = demo).

You will also need to get the latest firmware update (limited to 2 terminals per reseller) by dropping us an email at support@fingertec.com with the information of the FingerTec model in use, the serial number of the terminal, along with the current firmware version on your terminal.

Do not hesitate to drop us any feedback regarding the server by dropping us an email at support@fingertec.com. We hope that with the introduction of Webster, FingerTec’s adaptability to third party systems will be improved, and that in turn, see more growth in the FingerTec brand in the short future.
