In the beginning, there was hesitation. Biometrics for commercial use was an unfamiliar concept to many. Reporting to work and opening doors using a fingerprint was as awkward as eating rice with a pair of chopsticks if you were non-Chinese. Even though the use of fingerprint in criminology dated back to 1812 when a Frenchman Francois Vidocq solved a crime by matching a fingerprint, fingerprint as a commercialized technology was not well-comprehended and accepted by the mass population in the 20th century. Only a handful of companies around the world invested in research and development of biometrics technology and FingerTec was one of the pioneer companies that championed the technology.

Security at your fingertips (2000-2004)
The focus then was ‘security at your fingertips’; the audience needed trust, they needed confidence that the biometrics technology worked and it was secured. The message delivered was straightforward, linking fingerprint with security, the journey began. The crowd was merely interested to know the safety of the algorithm. Is the data safe? Can the fingerprint information be duplicated? Would it be safe giving my fingerprint to you? If someone were to chop off my finger, can they pretend to be me? Privacy issues became the primary concern and explanations were provided in abundance. Confidence was built slowly yet sturdily. Many questions were raised, many questions were solved, but the journey to perfection was still long and winded.

One FingerTec Solves It All (2005-2006)
Most people were excited yet intimidated by cutting-edge technology. The novel idea of fingerprinting was becoming more common and instilling more curiosity in the targeted population. The Internet Protocol technology which was a unique attribute to biometrics terminals earlier on was set as a default to all terminals, and the same went for the USB flash disk availability. FingerTec assures skeptical audiences that biometrics technology can solve various issues with the tagline “One Finger Solves It All”. Power was imposed on such a small body part, and yet, that power was available in everyone.

Hi-Tech Human Touch (2007 - 2008)
A few years down the road, more customers were warming up to biometrics, and as the system stabilized, more features were added into the product line up, and options were plentiful. The goal of FingerTec was to narrow the gap between high-technology products and regular consumers. Hence, Hi-Tech Human Touch. Various efforts were put into bringing the technology closer to the mass by simplifying manuals, guides, and other material so that the common laymen would be able to connect and understand the technology.

We Make Things Easy (2009-2011)
As the FingerTec brand traveled worldwide, language localization became the priority. Resources were budgeted into making our products understandable in various regions. The culture of assisting customers was established across all level of employees in FingerTec Worldwide. No enquiries were small enough, no problems were too trivial, and everyone was convinced that a small effort could go a great length when dealing with customers. All teams at FingerTec strived hard to make things easy; the endeavor has heightened the FingerTec brand to another level of rapport with the customers. For a few years the concentration was placed on improving FingerTec’s operation system to be accessible by all users.

Beyond Biometrics (2012 - Present)
Now, the time has arrived to be excited about the future. With the introduction of web-based applications, mobile application, improvement in the access control system, and the introduction of new products -- FingerTec presents an even wider application possibility in various industries, FingerTec is excited about the prospects of biometrics technology.

This year we aim to expand further and faster, by making moves such as extending support hours and focusing on clear and definitive sections of the potential market.
