FAQs
Is the H2i a Master Terminal or just a slave?
Don’t be deceived by the size, the H2i is a Master terminal. As it comes without a screen and keypad, the H2i uses mainly an administrator card for configuration, and voice commands to communicate with its users. The H2i terminal has sufficient memory capacity to support door access activities and time attendance data.

What is the capacity of the H2i?
The H2i can hold 1500 fingerprint templates, 10,000 card templates, and 100,000 transaction logs. More than enough for an SME company!

What form of verification can be done with the H2i?
The H2i supports fingerprint verification as well as card verification. The terminal comes ready made with the RFID card technology, however Mifare and HID technologies can be installed upon request. Please note only 1 card technology can be installed at a time.

What terminals can the H2i work together with?
The H2i is a standalone door access terminal that can be integrated with any other FingerTec door access terminal that has Wiegand. Therefore, exit slave readers such as i-Kadex and R2i are excluded. Whether you pair it with the R2, the AC900, or any other model, the choice is yours!

How does the H2i operate without an LCD screen and a keypad?
The H2i is unique in the sense that it is a fingerprint terminal without an LCD screen or a keypad. It therefore communicates with the users via voice commands. As a lot of weight is put on the voice commands, we’ve ensured that the commands are recorded using a high quality audio. Currently the audio languages are only available in English and Chinese. Translation of the audio is available upon demand. Liaise with us at info@fingertec.com for translation issues. As for the keypad, the H2i really doesn’t need one. Enroll an administrator card and you’re ready to configure the H2i. However, if you still do prefer a keypad to allow you to customize User ID’s and so on, we’ve inserted an option where you can plug in a numerical keyboard that comes with the H2i for more advanced options.

What kind of door lock can the H2i support?
The H2i can work with our electromagnetic EM Locks, dropbolts, and doorstrikes. The doorlocks and other door accessories can be found here at https://accessory.fingertec.com

I want to install an in/out system with the H2i, how far is the distance allowed in between H2i and the other reader?
The H2i uses a Wiegand connection to connect with another master terminal. As long as a good quality Wiegand wire is being used, the distance between the two terminals shall not be an issue.

What happens if there is an electricity cut? Will the locked door be able to open?
Power cuts do occasionally occur at unexpected moments. However, you won’t have to compromise on your door access in these moments if you are equipped with the right accessories. Installing an AdapTec access controller with a backup battery connected can ensure that your door remains locked during a power shortage, but only for a period of about 5-6 hours.;

How do I manage the data that has been logged in the H2i?
All FingerTec master terminals come with a complimentary software called the TCMS V2. Simply install the program onto your PC, and connect the terminal to the PC through our various connection means. We offer the commonly used TCP/IP connection, an RS485 connection, as well as the simple to use plug-and-play USB flashdisk connection – plug the flashdisk into the terminal to download the logs, and plug it into the PC to upload and manage the transaction logs.

The H2i is an access control system. How do I turn it into a security system for more protection?
definition, FingerTec terminals can only control the access of a workplace. To provide additional security, you can connect an external alarm that will go off if there is forced entry or if the terminal is being dismantled. You can also install the emergency breakglass in case there is an emergency situation (such as a fire or gas leak) that needs the door to be unlocked for an evacuation. The external alarm will also go off for these situations.

If I decide to install another FingerTec terminal after installing and using the H2i for a long period, do I have to enroll all the users into the new terminal again?
Here is where the TCMS V2 comes in handy. You can download the user information including the fingerprint and card templates and upload it into the new terminal without having to re-enroll all your staff one by one. So the answer is no, you don’t.

Can I link the H2i to a third party system?
Yes, you can. We offer the FTDP to ease integration of the third party system. The FTDP extracts the raw data from the H2i in a customizable format, and lets you upload it into your third part system for processing. For more advanced system linking, you can use our provided SDK, FingerTec BioBridge after signing a Non-Disclosure Agreement. However, we do advise you to consult an IT developer for more information, before applying for either of the solutions mentioned.

Can I use the H2i without having to link it to a computer?
can use the H2i without having to link it to a computer. However, this only makes sense if you wish to use the H2i as an access control device only, limiting the access of an area to only authorized users. If you wish to utilize the time attendance features of the device, such as attendance reports and tracking tardiness, you will need to link the H2i with a computer installed with the TCMS V2.
