Stop taking Facebook casually. It’s time to incorporate this social network as a part of your growing business. We have done it and so have many other companies out there. Don’t think that the audiences are not your target market, that they are not relevant to your business, that they might talk nonsense. All in all, a positive approach would yield a positive outcome.

As a FingerTec reseller, you might have noticed the various updates, contests and promotions we’ve done on our official Facebook page. As Facebook is emerging as one of the most popular websites in this current age, activating your business through Facebook is not a bad idea at all.

So, how and where should you start? Well logically, the first step is to create a page on Facebook for your business. You might want to set more than one person as the admin of the site so that updates do not only rely solely on you. Next, make sure you update your page regularly. One to two updates a day is fine. Try not to flood your client’s Facebook feeds with too many updates, or you may find yourself losing your followers.

How to get your followers? Getting followers to ‘like’ the fanpage is not an easy task. You need to make some effort to entice your followers. You can start by asking your clients to ‘like’ your fanpage, an request them to pass the message to their clients or potential clients to do the same. Some array of activities are also relevant to get people to join your Facebook page e.g. stand a chance to win an attractive prize when you ‘like’ us.

 
Take FingerTec USA as an example. They began their Facebook page only in late 2010 and already they have more than 400 active members and clients on their Facebook page. They provide their clientele with frequent updates, and because of the nature of Facebook, these updates instantly reach their clients. On and off, they also do pick up on one or two articles that FingerTec Worldwide shares which seems appropriate for their business. That’s the way to go about it; model us if you like, but at the same time tailor your page and updates to what your clients would most likely need and want.
 

So, once you have more followers, you may want to think of setting aside some budget for your Facebook fanpage activities. For example, FingerTec conducted a Tagline contest at around September last year which was mainly aimed at getting more fans on our Facebook page. The tactic worked; FingerTec’s followers now have increased from around 170, to over 1000 followers. However, we did have to set aside some budget to be used for prizes for our followers; an incentive, as we’d like to call it.

Tie in your sales and marketing in your Facebook page. Say, for example, you were planning to organize a promotion campaign involving purchase discounts. Involve your Facebook page; you could drive people to “like” your Facebook fanpage to obtain the discount voucher instead of just organizing a normal usual campaign.

What are the benefits of getting an active Facebook page, you may ask. Well, getting frequent updates from your company gives the illusion of an open communication to your clientele. Those with Facebook accounts would identify more with you if they get updated with the latest deals, promotions, and tips, leaving them feeling supported. If they have a question, they know immediately where to go.

The Facebook phenomenon has infected millions of people around the world, and as a result, information is flowing like never before. Do not miss out on the opportunity to get your brand out there in the sea of people and if all FingerTec resellers from around the world can start a fanpage(s), the FingerTec brand can be empowered tremendously!
