Tap On Mobility With
GPRS Services In FingerTec
Biometrics Terminal

The efficiency of data transfer is integral to biometrics system’s implementations; without it, data collection is simply futile. You need a proper channel to get the gold at the end of the rainbow, so to speak. A good system offers a variety of data transfer options to fit into different environments, available infrastructure and market requirements. For a standard premise with typical infrastructure, TCP/IP protocol is commonly used for data communication. But when it comes to places that do not have the Internet link, options are limited. USB data transfer could be a choice yet it does not offer direct linkage to the Internet wirelessly.

General Packet Radio Service or better known as GPRS is a mobile data service that has been used by many for communications for quite some time now. Taking regularity of the services around the world into consideration, it is only appropriate for FingerTec to offer GPRS as its communication option to clients who require wireless connectivity.

The way GPRS service works is pretty simple; you need to install a SIM card with GPRS feature into the FingerTec terminal, configure the GPRS settings with the tool provided in the terminal and configure the FingerTec Web Server for GPRS settings. Once the connection is established between the server and the terminal, all data and information about the terminal and its activities can be downloaded to the server for further analysis.

MAIN ADVANTAGES OF GPRS

Saves you pennies
Communication through GPRS is relatively cheaper than the regular GSM network. When it comes to data, GPRS sends larger message for cheaper rates and commonly, customers will be charged by the data rather than the duration of the Internet connection. Hence, taking daily data from FingerTec terminals via GPRS would cost you less than other available options.

Get you there faster
GPRS data is transferred at speeds ranging from 9.6 kilobyte per second up to 114 kilobyte per second. One would argue that there are other faster connections out there but when comparing it with the cost, GPRS provides good value at a pretty good speed.

You are connected, all the time
Where there is GSM coverage, GPRS services are on. Therefore, you will get constant connection much to your delight.

Giving you access, anytime
Think of GPRS like your wifi-enabled and connected phone. When you enter an area that has GPRS connectivity, the terminal will be ready to be accessed by the server, giving you the flexibility you require.

Get more out of it
When the area has GSM coverage, you can tap on the GPRS services to do multiple things such as email, voice mail, fax, telephone, etc.

First things first, please make sure before installation that the area has GPRS coverage and GPRS Tool – FingerTec provides GPRS Tool for customers to configure GPRS in their FingerTec terminals. Make sure you get all the information ready before the setting is done.
