Starting February 2007, some models of FingerTec product will start to use CMOS Image Sensor from Sharp that has RCBG photosensitive per pixel in all its fingerprint readers. The new optical scanner is smaller than the previous scanner and it has green backlight instead of red. Both scanners can be used in all readers. However, due to the difference in prism size, the old and new scanners are not interchangable and any upgrade of optical scanner from the old to the new one will require a change of a scanner module as well.
