In order to study the effect of electromagnetic radiation (EMR) exposure on the residents of Johor Bahru who is living within 150-meter radius from a telco tower, Wawasan Open University and National Defence University Of Malaysia approached FingerTec with their proposal.
It is alleged that prolonged EMR exposure may lead to hazards such as euro degenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson's diseases, immune system degradation, tinnitus and ear damage, irreversible infertility, effect on skin, DNA damage and increase in cancer risk. Those who living with EMR exposure are said to be suffering from fatigue, irritability, loss of memory, nausea, headaches, loss of appetite, difficulty in concentration and depressive tendencies.
FingerTec have contributed an amount of RM20,000 to the research of DNA damage in blood cells via EMR. It is hoped that with the donation that it can play a role in uncovering the health risks of EMR and what can be done to eradicate them. In the future, FingerTec aspires to undertake more programs to encourage sustainability and corporate responsibility among organizations, the citizens and the society.
