The 19th Moscow International Protection, Security and Fire Safety Exhibition (MIPS 2013) was recently held at the VVC Exhibition Centre in Moscow, Russia. Since its launch almost two decades ago, MIPS has become the key event for professionals to learn about recent relevant developments for the industries both in the local Russian market as well as globally. International exhibitors from countries such as the UK, China, Taiwan, Canada and South Korea were present at the event, marking an increased international awareness of the showcase. Altogether, more than 500 companies from 27 countries presented their products and developments to an estimated (at press time) 15,000 visitors. |

Among the main products highlighted at the FingerTec booth during the expo were Face ID 4d, Q2i and TA300. Face ID 4d, in particular, received the most attention and wowed audiences with its Russian display language and voice greetings. FingerTec also secured a deal with Russian conglomerate, JSC Rossi, to distribute a line of FingerTec products in the country. Their presence at the booth definitely gave the other FingerTec representatives a boost of confidence to face the locals. By the end of the exhibition, almost 100 leads were received from 6 different countries – Russia, Azerbaijan, Poland, Belarus, the UK and Ukraine. |

Other than FingerTec, there were also other competing companies that exhibited biometrics products. This shows that the industry is ever growing in Russia, and the demand for biometrics products in the region holds the potential to be even more substantial in the coming years. However, FingerTec’s marketing materials may need to be altered to cater to the local needs. According to Mr. Sergey Goldfine, Sales Director of JSC Rossi, the company will help with checking the FingerTec hardware and software to ensure its compliance with the local needs and wants. In conclusion, the expo proved to be fruitful for the FingerTec family as they were able to create brand awareness while learning more about the Russian market. |
