Fingerprint solutions for attendance is versatile. The simplicity and the effectiveness of fingerprint system make it a viable solution for wide range of application. Attendance is an issue when it comes to driving school. There are two parts to driving test, written and practical. Candidates are taught on road rules and regulations for the written test before they could apply these knowledge on the road. Lack of understanding about the road rules and lack of practice on the road would jeopardise the quality of drivers we have on our roads. This spells disaster because all candidates will be driving to the disadvantages of other drivers.
Why fingerprint? Fingerprint is a system to ensure that you are who you claim you are. One person could be attending the classes but another person could be doing the written test. The fingerprint system is proposed to ensure that the candidates are the persons who they claim they are. No confusion and no forgery. |

| With fingerprint system, driving school could impose full attendance rule prior to sitting for any written test or driving test. This is important to producing quality and safe drivers in the country. |

| How to do it? |
| Note: Application series is just an idea of how fingerprint system could be implemented in certain areas and the advantages of it. |

| A main server is deployed in the National Transportation Department. The main server is storing information of candidates and drivers i.e. driving license ID, learning license ID, name, address, type of vehicle, types of motor insurance entitled to, plat number of vehicle etc. OFIS SDK is implemented into the server to read and store fingerprint templates of the candidates, and to verify the fingerprints of candidates. |

| The enrolment client software at driving schools |
| Enrolment client software is developed to enrol fingerprints of candidates at the driving schools. Candidates shall provide their personal particulars during the enrolment process. The registration process is always online with the main server in National Transportation Department. Fingerprint templates and personal particulars will be stored into the database server directly. The server generates a Learning License ID and issues an official receipt for each candidate, which entitles him/her to attend Driving School. |

| The verification client software in the driving examinations |
| Candidates are assigned to the nearest branches of National Transportation Department to sit for their driving examinations. Candidate provides learning license ID or the receipt to the officer to register. With the help of verification client software, OFIS scanner captures his/her fingerprint and the template will be sent to main server for online verification. This mechanism is to prove he/she is the real person during registration with the National Transportation Department. Only candidates verified successfully by the main server can proceed to driving examinations. When the candidate finishes the examination, he/she shall verify fingerprint at the OFIS scanner again. |

| Information Management |

For those who passed the driving test, a driving license is issued on the same day to candidates. The license attached with his/her photo, and other particulars. Right on the spot, examination officer updates the information online into the main server. For those failed, the fail records are updated into main server by the examination officers. And the candidates shall verify their fingerprint again to acknowledge the failure records save into main server.

| The main server in National Transportation Department stores all information of drivers. It is a useful resource to trace drivers details especially records of bad driving attitude, traffic summons, driving license validity etc. Drivers can visit to the nearest branches of National Transportation Department to check their records. Driver places finger on OFIS scanner to capture and send fingerprint to main server to verify. The details records of he/she will display on screen for viewing and checking. He/she can proceed to pay their traffic summons, to renew their license etc on the spot. |
