Museums are a wonderful place to broaden and fuel the human mind and knowledge. As archives or storehouses of information and learning, these public cultural institutions are a treasure trove of human history and ingenuity. Even in the dusty, dry terrain of Qatar, Doha, one will not find a shortage of museums especially with Qatar Museums (QM) at the helm. Established in 2005 by Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, former Emir of the State of Qatar, Qatar Museums aims to combine the resources of all museums in Qatar, providing a comprehensive organization for museum development to connect diverse audiences – nationally and internationally – with a program that welcomes the world to Doha. With so many of their present museums and exhibitions located all over the region in numerous remote locations and even internationally, Qatar Museums were continuously splitting hairs over the time attendance and access control issues and mix-ups as all employees must report to the HR administration team headquartered at the main office. Without a centralized data management system, it was a harrowing ordeal to constantly monitor and deal with the numerous amount of data coming in from all over the region and to ensure that data integrity is error free and uncompromised. |
