The FingerTec® Data Processor (FTDP) is a basic software designed to interact with all FingerTec® terminals. The FTDP was developed to help ease the system integrator or software developer’s job of fully integrating their FingerTec® terminals with their company’s existing systems. |

The FTDP software’s main functions are: |

Downloading / uploading user information from/to terminals. |
ii. |
Downloading transaction logs from terminals. |
iii. |
Configuring settings of terminals. |
iv. |
Exporting user information and transaction logs into various file formats for input into a 3rd party system. |
v. |
Storing data into a Microsoft Access database as a centralized database which is accessible by using the ODBC Manager. |

Previously, a system integrator or software developer would have to use the BioBridge SDK (Software Development Kit) to develop their own solutions or software to obtain data from FingerTec terminals. With the FDTP, you will be able to perform the basic functions such as adding/deleting users, as well as able to export the raw data out of the terminal, to be processed by a third party software of your choice. In short, the FDTP is a basic version of the TCMS v2 and the BioBridge SDK combined. |

Connecting to the terminals |

Unlike the TCMS v2, you do not need to use any product key or activation key to connect a terminal in the Data Processor. You will only need to insert the IP address of the terminal, and the Data Processor will locate it. It will display all the information of the terminal on the screen, so you’ll know that you have connected to the right terminal. You can opt to connect terminals via COMM, URL or USB Client (TA300 only). |

Attendance reporting of users |
If you are using the TCMS V2, you’ll find that you just need to verify your attendance at the terminal with your fingerprint/card/password without having to punch in any code to report your working status. However, with the FTDP you will have to do this step to ease the system calculation of your in/out status. To illustrate more clearly, we shall take an example of a fast food shop. This shop hires quite a few part timers to work there, and are paid by the hour. Due to the frequent change of in-out shifts, there will be some difficulty caused when generating data for attendance reports and payroll purposes. After this shop installs FingerTec’s biometric system, all workers are required to report attendance at the terminal as well as report their working status (In, Out, OT-in or OT-Out) by punching in a code.

Once you connect the Data Processer to the terminal to download the logs, you will see the below: |

Data Processor shows all record details. You can see the date and time of verification, as well as the working status (Check In, Check Out, OT-In and OT-out) of the workers. |

Exporting attendance data |
The Data Processor only stores the raw attendance data from the FingerTec terminals, meaning that the data will only contain the verification timing, and will not calculate the hours that you’ve spent at your workplace. You will need to export the data into a time attendance system or a payroll system to be process, before generating reports and calculations. You can adjust arrangement of the export file as well as the output file format using the Data Processor. |

The time attendance system or payroll system reads the output file as data source, then proceeds to process, calculate and prepare relevant reports. In some cases, the time attendance system or payroll system does not need the working status of the staff (Check In, Check Out, OT-In and OT-out). You can then ignore the process of reporting the work status at the hardware and uncheck the field “InOut” during the exporting process. |

Other useful features |
You can configure the Data Processor to download data from the terminal automatically. You can set the time interval or a specific timer to download data from terminal. This automates the Data Processor to download records from terminals. |
|

You can export the user information from the Data Processor into a different format (txt, xls, xml, html). You can also arrange the output format to suit your 3rd party software. |
