FingerTec Features To Business Value - On board TCP/IP support
by Elvis Law

Reliability and stability of data communication is one of the critical success factors to door access and time attendance system. In the past, the traditional RS232 and RS485 are the most common network communication interface supports. As the high-speed Ethernet become the most popular and common to most of the computerized system, supporting TCP/IP has become the necessity requirement to most of corporate customers. In response to this need, many devices in the market claim to support TCP/IP but what difference between TCP/IP support and on board TCP/IP support?

If TCP/IP support is not on board level, user may need an RS232/485 to TCP/IP converter or an additional controller, which means that the product design does not cater the TCP/IP feature. The typical problems of this kind of TCP/IP feature are low speed data transmission, additional installation cost and data lost.

Amongst all these problems, data lost is the most critical problem that corporate customers worry so much. Without complete data collection, time attendance system is no longer reliable and it will bring about big obstacles when it comes to salary payment. Data for access control system will also be questioned and system will no longer be trustful, as user may lose the transaction of the period when it’s most needed for example burglary.

All FingerTec models provide on board level TCP/IP support that no converter is required and the connection is straightforward. Undoubtedly, the speed is faster and the data transmission is reliable as compared to the so-called TCP/IP feature.
