Despite the current economic turbulent, FingerTec always finds ways to position its strength in global market. One of them is to enhance its quality of services. By holding a two-day training workshop in Bangladesh from 24 March to 25 March 2009, FingerTec seeks to strengthen the relationship with its dealers and end-users in Bangladesh. |

I was in charge to conduct the technical training on hardware and software requested by General Automation Ltd. I flew to Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh on the evening of 23 March, to be greeted by General Automation’s staff at the Zia International Airport. The seventh most populous country in world having approximately 12.3million citizens in Dhaka alone, the city definitely cannot escape traffic congestion. I was settled at a nice hotel, a walking distance from the General Automation’s office. |

The two-day workshop was aimed to train the personnel of Engineering Department of General Automation in understanding the products. Some of them had difficulties understandings clocking schedule configuration. The fact that we had different ‘slang’ in English made my presentation a challenge. After the workshop, they are familiar with the basic configurations of the software and hardware, but they would need additional information and guides on the advanced configuration, which I promised to attend to them virtually at a later date. |

I also had an opportunity to discuss with local technicians and pleased to find out that the Bangladesh market provides huge business opportunity to FingerTec’s products. They hoped that FingerTec would produce a slave terminal for Kadex to target on smaller companies with lesser budget. iKadex which will be introduced soon is exactly what the market is waiting for. The dealers also have high hopes for our web based software and the GPRS connection availability on FingerTec readers. |

I planned to discover Dhaka at night but power supply did not allow me to do so. The city went blackout every couple of hours, and being an alien in a country, I did not dare to stroll alone in the dark. However, I got the chance the next day with the help of my new friends at General Automation. One thing to take note is to operate in Bangladesh, generators and UPS are a must! |

I take this chance to thank Mr Saiful Haque Kamal, Managing Director of General Automation and all staff of General Automation, who had shown me great hospitality during my visit to the company and the city. |
