Job costing is a system that accumulates and assigns costs to a specific job. The system will accumulate the service costs by employees and then assigns them to a particular assignment. The companies that usually use the job costing system are accounting firms, law firms, automobile servicing companies, construction companies and etc. The service industry companies are most likely to use the job costing system because each job has different quantities of materials and labor, thus complicating the tracking process.

Automobile servicing companies, including repair workshops and auto service centers can use job costing system to consider each automobile or bill as an individual job. Record-keeping for job costing in service industries can be more complex as it offers a wide array of various services. This requires repair workshops and auto service centers to keep detailed records of each specific job to determine the labor costs correctly.

By using the TCMS V2’s job costing feature, the management’s work is simplified while determining the price costing for each different task. The mechanics or servicing technicians can also arrange their work schedule according to the servicing appointment list.

Below is a sample solution on how to setup the job costing feature for different automobile servicing jobs:

Step 1 – Create a Flexi Schedule

Create a Flexi Schedule for the mechanics / servicing technicians.

Step 2 –Enable Job Costing Features in the Flexi Schedule’s General tab.

Step 3 – Define Work Code at the Remark Definition

You can create different job description with different codes.

Step 4 – Define Pay Type for Different Job at the Remark Definition

For different employees, you can configure different pay rates for different jobs.

Step 5 – Work Code + Verification

Before starting a new job, the mechanic / servicing technician will need to select the work code that represents the job description and verify their fingerprint. Once the job is completed, verify their fingerprint again to log out.

Result – Attendance Sheet

After downloading the transaction data from the FingerTec terminal, the attendance sheet will display the user with the transaction data.

Result – Job Costing

The Job Cost result page will show the detailed IN OUT time with the code and job description.

Report 1 – Job Cost Analysis Report

This report is exclusively for the Job Cost Option at the flexi schedule. It displays the users’ multiple break times and also the job’s work code for the particular break time.

Report 2 – Detailed Employee Time Card Report

This report is exclusively for the Job Cost Option at the flexi schedule. It displays the users’ multiple break times and also the job’s work code for the particular break time. Unlike the Job Cost Analysis, this report will summarize the attendance details.

Report 3 – Gross Wages Report

This report is useful for companies that pay their employees by hour. The report shows total work time and OT for different day types with different pay rates for wage calculation.
