Dominican Republic’s Judicial Council (DRJC) one of the three main branches that makes up the constitution of the nation. The Judicial Council is a federal body created under the Judges Act with the mandate to promote efficiency, equality, and accountability, and to enhance the quality of judicial service in the superior courts of Dominican Republic.
DRJC bears the responsibility of appointing judges independently and separately from the political process. The Supreme Court of Justice or Suprema Corte de Justicia consists of a minimum of 16 magistrates and the Constitutional Court or Tribunal Constitucional is made up of 13 judges, all of which forming the highest court. These courts are frequented not only by the DRJC members but also members of the public making it essential for the presence of any individual to be recorded immediately. |
