With a proud and long history that spans over two centuries long, the arrival of Chinese immigrants gave birth to the beginnings of Chinese education in Malaysia. Our present day vernacular schools have come a long way since the colonial days where they have faced countless treats to their survival and continuity especially with the recent calls to abolish or shut down vernacular schools. However, over the last few years, now with over 1,200 vernacular schools nationwide, the Chinese education system has witnessed a resurgence in both its popularity which has contributed to high enrolment rates even among non-Chinese students, thanks to the efforts and persistence of Persatuan Jaringan Ibubapa Pencinta Pendidikan Bahasa Zhong Hua (Zhong Hua).
The Persatuan Jaringan Ibubapa Pencinta Pendidikan Bahasa Zhong Hua (established in 2006) is at the heart of a national movement to promote national exchanges and cooperation with vernacular primary schools all over the nation, to advocate the ideals of a holistic education system, to safeguard the Chinese language and curriculum while also protecting the welfare of all vernacular school students. Fighting for the rights of every individual to be given the choice and opportunity to be educated in one’s own language, the continuity and growth of vernacular schools in Malaysia have grown from strength to strength, where the benefits of studying in a flexible multi-stream educational system that allows learners to develop their abilities according to their language preference and cultural background.
As a testament to the Zhong Hua’s commitment and dedication to overseeing the progression and continuity of the Chinese educational system, FingerTec has made a charitable donation of RM5,000 in cash to help Zhong Hua continue with their honourable mission. The access to quality education is a right of every child and FingerTec is proud to have contributed to such a great and admirable cause.
