We have received a lot of questions about FingerTec Webserver since its introduction to the market and this document attempts to answer that frequently asked question. To put it simply: FingerTec Webserver is a basic web version of time control management software, TCMS V2. The Webserver application has to be installed in a PC or a server with a fixed IP address to work as a station linking FingerTec terminals via GPRS or the Internet. No IP addresses are required on any of the terminals because those terminals will search for a GPRS or Internet signal to establish the connection. It is like searching for a WiFi signal for your smart phone; once the signal is detected, connection could be established between your phone and the Internet. |
It’s Crucial to Add Webserver’s IP Address Into FingerTec Terminals |
Prior to using FingerTec terminals with FingerTec Webserver, you are required to contact us at info@fingertec.com or support@fingertec.com to obtain an exclusive firmware. This firmware would add a Webserver IP address into the respective FingerTec terminals and this fixed IP address acts as a tag for the Webserver to identify the terminals. Once the update is done, the terminals can be linked up via GPRS or the Internet without much hassle. |
What’s the Advantages of FingerTec WebServer? |
Once FingerTec terminals are linked up via the FingerTec WebServer, it is easy to manage user information i.e user ID, fingerprints, card number and password. Whenever a new user is enrolled into a terminal that has been linked up to a FingerTec Webserver, this user’s information will be downloaded into the server almost immediately. With that instant data collection, an administrator is able to edit the information and transfer that information to any relevant FingerTec terminals in the shortest amount of time possible. This is an advantage when we are talking about management of remote sites. A transfer of staff from site A to site B could be done quickly and smoothly with the availability of FingerTec Webserver. The Webserver also could receive transaction data from the respective terminals for fast and effective processing of attendance records and reports. |
Caution: WebServer Stores Raw Data Only! |
Transaction logs of all user verification done at any FingerTec terminals linked up to FingerTec Webserver are downloaded automatically into the Webserver. However, all these logs consist of raw data of verification only, which cannot be used to justify attendance records of any users. The Webserver only acts as a storage station for transaction logs, waiting for further processing by a third party software. The data is stored in a MySQL database, which requires any software that supports MySQL database to obtain data from Webserver for further processing. |
Choose TCMSV2 to Process Raw Data and Obtain Important Information! |
The raw attendance data worth nothing if it is not processed by a software. FingerTec offers our readily available time management control software named TCMS V2 to read data from MySQL database in the WebServer. You can also use third party software, which can read MySQL to do the same. With the TCMS V2, you can generate and view attendance records and reports of all users, as well as able to export attendance data for payroll processing. This is how FingerTec adds value to your company. |
